AIA Ohio’s “Good Samaritan” Bill Gets Hearing
The Senate Civil Justice Committee took testimony November 19 regarding AIA Ohio’s proposed “Good Samaritan Bill” (HB379).
Rep. Blessing offered sponsor testimony for the bill, which he said would grant civil immunity to architects, engineers and surveyors volunteering during a declared emergency under the purview of a body authorized to act in an official capacity. He said currently, these people could be sued while volunteering during a declared emergency.
He said the bill would “encourage more volunteer work by removing barriers that discourage such work.”
