The 76th Annual AIA Toledo High School Design Competition officially launched on January 7, continuing a decades-long tradition of connecting students with local architects and educators through hands-on design mentorship. Students will produce comprehensive design submissions that emphasize creativity, technical skill, and problem-solving. This year, participants are challenged to design a two-family residential duplex on a vacant South Toledo lot for the Lucas County Land Bank, exploring how Missing Middle Housing can support neighborhood revitalization and expand affordable housing options. At the kickoff, Land Bank Senior Vice President Stephanie Shackelford introduced the client’s goals and underscored Toledo’s growing housing needs.
