AIA Columbus recently welcomed Sara Boyer, AIA, and R. Todd Boyer, AIA, for Stories of Architects, presented by the chapter’s Diversity by Design Committee. The September 24 program offered members a personal look at the experiences that have shaped their lives, careers, and perspectives on architecture.
Through photographs, projects, and personal stories, Sara and Todd reflected on their early influences, architecture education, career transitions, and the experiences that helped them grow into confident architects. Their journeys have taken them across the country and through different areas of practice, while family, mentorship, service, and professional relationships have remained important parts of their story.
Sara and Todd reminded attendees that careers in architecture are rarely linear, and that transitions, challenges, and unexpected opportunities can help shape both professional and personal growth. Stories of Architects gives AIA Columbus members an opportunity to look beyond the projects and learn more about the people and experiences behind them.
