AIA Cincinnati Update

AIA Cincinnati is celebrating Architecture Month (October) with an Instagram series featuring member projects and several programs.

Capturing the beauty of a building, or its details, can be challenging. Learn strategies for taking share-worthy photos of buildings during a one-hour Architecture Photo Safari on October 8, 2022.

Although almost half of the students in American architectural programs are women, only 17% of registered architects are women. In the construction industry, only 9.9% of workers in all roles are women. Women working in male dominated industries may face challenges just to be heard. AIA Cincinnati’s Women in Architecture group and NAWIC host Finding Your Voice in a Man’s World on October 19, 2022 to help women navigate their career in the building industry.

AIA Cincinnati and Soapbox are partnering for the second Architecture Matters panel discussion, this one exploring What Makes a Great Place on October 26, 2022. New projects in our communities can be great not just for today, but for the generations of residents and visitors who will be living, working, and playing here in the future. Residents and business owners can advocate for better design in their communities, but only if they understand what makes a great place.

Just after Architecture Month ends, AIA Cincinnati celebrates the Cincinnati Design Awards with our professional association partners ASID, ASLA, APA, IIDA, and SEGD on November 4, 2022. The Cincinnati Design Awards (CDA) program recognizes the best built-environment design produced by Cincinnati-area creative firms and promotes the social and economic value of good design in our community.

For our AEC community, the Academy Education Summit, held this year in partnership with AIA Dayton and sponsored by ConstructConnect, runs October 20 through November 4 with a combination of virtual and in-person sessions providing eleven hours of continuing education credits.
