AIA Ohio Foundation Awards Grants
Bruce Sekanick, FAIA, President, AIA Ohio Foundation
Earlier this year, the AIA Ohio Foundation released a call for its re-imagined Grants Program. Designed around the Foundation’s mission of providing outreach that supports the future of the architectural profession, the Grants Program funds accredited architectural programs, individual members, chapters and other organizations to provide programming that has a direct and positive benefit to the profession.
This year, the Foundation received seven submissions, and the chapter chose to award three grants. These recipients were notified in mid-September and were publicly announced at the AIA Ohio Awards Celebration at the AIA Ohio 2025 Conference. Grant awardees include:
- The ACE Mentor Program of Akron/Canton, a free after school program designed to attract underrepresented high school students to careers in Architecture, Construction, and Engineering.
- AIA Cincinnati’s Committee on the Environment Passive House Network’s Ice Box Challenge. This program is intended to educate the public, builders, and elected officials about the benefits of passive house design principles.
- AIA Columbus, in collaboration with NOMA Columbus, AIAS Ohio State, NOMAS OSU, and NOMAS BGSU for the 22nd Century City project, a one-day workshop and multi-week exhibit designed to bring together local students and design professionals to envision bold, inclusive futures for Columbus in the year 2100.
The AIA Ohio Foundation Board of Trustees would like to congratulate each of the above programs as recipients of this year’s grants. We thank the other chapters and organizations for their submissions as well, and we look forward to the opportunity to support additional programs in 2026.
